Imagine phase


During the imagine phase, we decided to create a new game concept, which presented the player with only one choice to a serious moral dilemma. This one included your character witnessing a traffic accident and having to decide what to do afterwards. We created a storyboard, but when reviewing the story together as a team, we weren't very excited by it. Feeling a bit lost, we threw out the whole idea of creating a choices matter and story-heavy game concept. 

Instead, we developed a third concept. A cartoonish scroller game inside the car window with a man dodging obstacles. We removed the jumping mechanic and instead replaced it with the car window rolling up and down - making the man able to move and dodge. The obstacles matches the outside surroundings of the car. Gradually, the surroundings become more and more eerie and catastrophic. Moving through forest, wasteland, ruins and then gradually changing into a warzone, the car drives by catastrophe, simply ignoring everything and focusing on their imaginary scroller-game. Meanwhile, a car radio can be heard in the background to match the increasingly catastrophic surroundings.
